Drama Ministry Team Expectations

          1)  Participants must have a personal commitment to Christ and want to use their talents to benefit others.

Because the drama team is a visible group, those in it are perceived as representatives of Christ alive in the here and now. How can a person minister to others when that person is unaware of Who or what the ministry is for?  Ability alone, unsurrendered to the leadership of Jesus Christ, cannot bear lasting fruit. Anyone participating in this ministry must be doing so because of love for the Lord, a heart for the lost, and a passion to see others brought to a more meaningful and intimate relationship with Christ.

          2)  If you are involved in a particular sketch, please come to rehearsal with lines memorized by the date requested.

It’s much easier to fine-tune a sketch if the lines are already memorized and we can concentrate on blocking, emphasis, etc.  Your help in this regard will assure that practices go as smoothly as possible, and we all make the best use of our time and talents.

          3)  Please attend as many meetings as possible.

This ministry is not one in which you MUST attend every meeting. No one is keeping track of absences, and I realize that we all have many other things going on in our lives and will not be able to be here all the time.  I also hope that others will get involved, and don’t want fear of obligation to stand in the way of anyone’s service to Christ. At the same time, one of my prayers for this ministry is that we will grow together in Christ and become a support network for each other.  As we seek to minister together, listen to God’s Word together, and share concentrated times of prayer for each other during these meetings, we will naturally grow closer to one another... and that’s a good thing! It’s how the body of Christ is meant to function!  We will, of course, use anyone who wishes to participate in drama, even if they are unable to attend meetings… but if you want to be blessed as well as bless others through this ministry, the best way to receive is to be here, an active and vital part of this group.  Unity and trust are built through commitment to one another, exactly what a team needs.

          4)  Every member must be willing to help out with all aspects of the drama ministry.

Drama ministry involves so much more than simply acting!  From time to time we will need to gather props, make costumes and scenery, help each other memorize, prompt others in their lines, line up new venues in which to minister, handle promotional needs, evangelize, and encourage each other as we serve the Lord together.

          5)  Share your ideas!!

We all come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and have all had different experiences.  Let’s draw from each other’s experiences and ideas to create the most powerful and effective drama team we can!  If you’ve tried something in the past and would like to see our team tackle it… speak up!  Got an idea for a sketch in your mind but can’t seem to get it to paper? Share it…  maybe someone with a talent for writing can help you organize it and get it nailed down.  Have you heard of a place that would let us come in and do some street evangelism?  Let’s hear it!

            6)  Cover drama ministry and the lives that are touched by it with prayer.

            What’s not to pray about?

Please remember to keep first and foremost, the people who will hear the gospel message through our efforts in prayer.  Pray that the Lord will soften the hearts and open the minds of those He has chosen to reach through this ministry.

Pray for each other, as a group, and individually. We will get to know each other more intimately as a result of serving together, and it is my prayer that we will develop a burden for each other… that we will move past surface relationships into deeper friendships with one another, and that as a result, we will be more committed than ever to bathe one another in prayer.

Pray also for the ministry itself, that we will follow the Lord’s leading, that we will give Him our very best, that we will be effective witnesses for Him, and that in everything we do, whether in word or deed, we will give all the glory to God.
